California Senate Delays Emissions Reports Rulemaking Deadline

California regulators would get an extra six months to finalize the rules for the state’s first-in-the-nation emissions reporting program under legislation the state Senate cleared Saturday by a vote of 33-4.

Companies with more than $1 billion in revenue and doing business in the state would still have to report direct greenhouse gas emissions starting in 2026 under a law (SB 253) passed last year.

But the measure (SB 219) approved Saturday would give the California Air Resources Board until July 1, 2025, to finalize rules for the program, instead of keeping to a Jan. 1, ...
