House members, seeking to jump start progress on a bipartisan effort, introduced companion legislation to a leading Senate bill that aims to make the internet safer for children.
The House version of the Kids’ Online Safety Act, or KOSA, would require online platforms to protect their youngest users from harms—such as content that promotes violence and eating disorders—on their websites. A bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Reps. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.), Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), Erin Houchin (R-Ind.), and Kim Schrier (D-Wash.), introduced the measure on Tuesday.
