President Donald Trump’s ouster of the head of the Coast Guard has drawn mixed reviews on Capitol Hill, as Republicans call her departure overdue and top Democrats denounce the president’s move as an abuse of power.
Commandant Linda Fagan lost her job Monday when Trump took power. The Department of Homeland Security cited leadership deficiencies and operational failures related to the Coast Guard’s border security work and Fagan’s emphasis of diversity initiatives.
