Democrats Dismiss GOP Counter-Offer

Negotiations for a Homeland Security spending bill continue, but lawmakers look to be far from a deal as Friday’s deadline approaches.

Democrats are waiting for a complete counter-offer from Republicans on a DHS funding bill with changes to immigration enforcement policy after they made their first formal proposal over the weekend. The White House returned a counter-proposal to Democrats yesterday, but Democratic leaders said the GOP offer was “both incomplete and insufficient.”
