Congressional Pay Raise Rejected in New Republican Funding Bill

House Republicans scrapped plans for a congressional pay raise, as they released a new proposal to keep the government running, just a day before the Friday night deadline to avert a shutdown.

A new House GOP plan to fund the government through March 14 removed many extraneous provisions, including a measure to allow lawmakers their first automatic annual pay raise since 2009, which was first reported by Bloomberg Government. An earlier bill would have allowed a 3.8%, or $6,600, pay bump, from $174,000 to $180,600.
