Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said his state is willing to take the lead in regulating popular prediction markets even if it could run afoul of federal authorities.
Lamont, a former telecommunications executive who assumed office in 2019, has been one of the most vocal state leaders in calling for regulation of prediction markets. He has proposed legislation that would ban users under the age of 21 from the platforms, the first such bill championed by a governor on prediction market regulation.
