Cornyn Dismisses Calls to Unmask ICE Agents as Scrutiny Grows

Republican Senator John Cornyn said he opposes calls to require US immigration agents to unmask while working in the field, calling the proposal “ridiculous” as President Donald Trump’s crackdown faces intensifying scrutiny after two fatal shootings of US citizens in Minneapolis.

The Texas senator rejected demands from Democratic lawmakers and civil rights groups for new transparency requirements for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, even as he acknowledged that some changes may be necessary.
