Long Covid patient-advocates are trying to drum up Republican support for a $1 billion annual ‘moonshot’ on research by framing the disease as an economic and “pro-life” issue.
Members of the advocacy group Long Covid Moonshot last week met with Democratic Senate staffers and White House officials, and intend to submit a formal policy proposal in March. Next, they’ll turn their attention to Republicans by highlighting long Covid’s disproportionate effects on people with low-paying jobs and those of childbearing age, according to the group’s co-founder Sita Zarcufsky.
