Cruz Bill Takes Aim at Alleged Biden Censorship of Social Media

New legislation intended to protect Americans against government suppression of constitutionally protected speech will be introduced in the coming weeks, Sen. Ted Cruz announced Wednesday.

The chairman of the powerful Senate Commerce Committee unveiled his plans during a hearing on government “jawboning,” or efforts to censor speech by threatening private companies, such as social media platforms and TV networks, to limit or moderate content.

“No government official—regardless of party—should be engaged in jawboning,” Cruz (R-Texas) said in a statement, adding the legislation will “empower Americans to hold government officials accountable.”
