Former homeland and cybersecurity officials are sounding alarms after reports that an impersonation scam targeted White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that federal officials were investigating after multiple US political officials and business executives received messages and calls impersonating Wiles, one of President Donald Trump’s closest advisers. The newspaper, citing unnamed sources, said Wiles believed her cellphone contacts were hacked and that the device in question was her personal phone.
