The Senate voted to clear a defense authorization bill backing the Pentagon’s push to buy commercial technology to speedily equip US troops, and sets curbs on war powers and investments in sensitive Chinese industries.

Negotiators added a provision to compel Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to submit all unedited videos and provide briefings on strikes targeting alleged drug-running boats off the coast of Venezuela, with a reduction to his travel budget if he doesn’t comply.
