Delta Wins Round Against United in Washington Airport Fight

The airport closest to Capitol Hill is one step closer to offering some additional flights directly to lawmaker districts — an initial win for Delta Air Lines — but area senators are seeking to block the effort.

Legislation that would allow five additional daily round-trip flights at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is significantly less than what proponents originally sought, but more than the zero opponents such as United Airlines wanted. The bill, released Monday, is the latest move in months-long fight pitting airlines against each other and stirring tension between regional and long-distance lawmakers.
