Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-Ariz.) says US Immigration and Customs Enforcement denied her request to visit several community members held at a detention center outside Phoenix, the latest dust-up between Democrats and the Trump administration over access to immigrant jails.
Ansari, who toured the Eloy Detention Center in May, said she had worked with ICE to schedule a follow-up visit over the weekend to meet with a handful of immigrants her constituents raised concerns about, including a green card holder with leukemia, but was ultimately blocked.
