Democratic Women Pitch Changes to Combat Harassment in Congress

Democratic congresswomen and advocates who publicized allegations of misconduct that precipitated the resignation of ex-Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) announced a new organization Wednesday that will aim to crack down on sexual harassment on Capitol Hill.

Cheyenne Hunt, the lawyer who exposed allegations of sexual misconduct by Swalwell, will serve as executive director of Reckoning Action—which she described as a MeToo movement “for the modern era.”

Hunt launched the group alongside members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus on Capitol Hill. They promised to push for cultural and structural changes in Washington to protect female congressional staff members.
