Democrats’ Aging Committee Leaders Challenged by Younger Members

A younger generation of House Democrats is showing an increasing willingness to challenge party leaders who have held onto powerful positions atop committees for years.

California Reps. Jared Huffman and Jim Costa on Wednesday launched bids to unseat 76-year old Natural Resources Ranking Member Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.) and 79-year old Agriculture Ranking Member David Scott (Ga.), respectively.
