Trump’s FAA Firings Raise Risks for Air Travel, Democrats Warn

Congressional Democrats are using the layoffs at the Federal Aviation Administration and the recent slate of plane crashes to make their case that the Trump administration’s cuts are going too far.

Hundreds of probationary FAA employees were fired over the weekend, a move that’s drawing quick backlash from members of Congress since it comes less than a month after the deadliest US commercial plane crash in decades. Just as news of the layoffs spread, another incident occurred Monday when a Delta Air Lines plane flying from Minnesota flipped upside down on the runway at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
