Democrats Lay Out Immigration Demands to Avert Shutdown (1)

Senate Democrats are demanding federal agents be prohibited from wearing masks and required to wear body cameras in exchange for their votes to support Homeland Security funding.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) outlined three demands to change immigration enforcement policy to support the Department of Homeland Security funding measure in a press conference Wednesday, which includes requiring federal agents to carry identification with them.

The first, Schumer said, is ending roving patrols and tightening the rules for warrants. Federal agents must also coordinate with state and local law enforcement, Schumer said.
