Democrats Don’t Yet See Deal in GOP’s Offer on ACA Extension

Senate Democrats didn’t seem enthused about the GOP’s latest offer to extend the Affordable Care Act Tax credits Thursday amid controversy over funding the government on Capitol Hill.

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), who caucuses with Democrats and has been one of the top negotiators, said there are questions about a proposal offered up by Republican Senate negotiators this week.

“We need to narrow it back to what we had discussed in our group,” King said. In response to a reporter’s question on whether this represented a bipartisan deal, he answered, “Not right now.”
