Democrats Up Contraception Pressure

Abortion politics are coming to the Senate floor today, and they’ll likely keep coming back as lawmakers turn their attention to November elections.

Democrats are aiming to put pressure on Republicans with a vote on access to contraceptives. Democrats say polls show voters favor reproductive freedom, not restrictions.

A federal right to access contraceptives would be established under the bill senators will take a procedural vote on today. It would also guarantee health care providers can administer them.
