Democrats Float Long-Shot Bill to Reinstate SNAP Funding, Access

Democrats are aiming to reverse Republican-led provisions that slashed hundreds of billions of dollars in federal food assistance and limited who’s eligible, via legislation Senate and House lawmakers plan to introduce Thursday.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and shared first with Bloomberg Government, would repeal provisions enacted in July as part of a tax-and-spending package (Public Law 119-21) and revert policy underpinning the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program “as if those sections had not been enacted into law.”
