Democrats Prepare New DHS Offer as Agency’s Funding Runs Out

Democrats will respond to the White House’s “unserious” Homeland Security funding offer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Friday, with funding for the agency almost certain to expire this weekend.

“We’ll respond to the latest that was sent over from the White House,” Jeffries told reporters at the Capitol, arguing the Trump administration position “falls short.” He said House and Senate Democrats are working “feverishly together” at the leadership and appropriations level to form their counteroffer.
