Virginia Democrats seeking voter approval of new congressional maps dominated the Republican opposition in fundraising in the run-up to an April 21 referendum election on the partisan proposal.
Virginians for Fair Elections, the main Democratic group advocating for a constitutional amendment to authorize a replacement map in time for the Nov. 3 election, raised more than $64 million through April 10 compared with about $20 million for the Republican-led Virginia for Fair Maps organization campaigning against the amendment and map, campaign finance reports show.
