Democrats, Republicans Spar Over Handling of Padilla Takedown

Congressional Democrats were quick to rail against the Trump administration after Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) was handcuffed following an altercation with Secret Service agents, but Republicans criticized the senator and defended law enforcement’s actions.

Padilla was forcibly removed and then handcuffed by federal officers after trying to question Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem at a press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, related to the city’s ongoing immigration protests.
