Democrats Seek to Scrap GOP’s Medicaid Cost-Sharing Requirements

A Democratic duo has introduced legislation to start repealing parts of the Republican tax law that imposes cost-sharing requirements on certain Medicaid beneficiaries.

Sen. Ron Wyden (Ore.), the top Democrat on the Finance Committee, and Sen. Peter Welch (D-Vt.) are sponsoring a bill (S. 2447) to stop requirements, starting in 2028, for Medicaid beneficiaries making 100% to 138% of the federal poverty level to pay up to $35 in cost-sharing for services.
