Florida Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed his state’s Republican-dominated government will revise congressional lines next spring.
“We’re going to redistrict,” DeSantis (R) told the Floridian publication in an interview published Monday.
Republicans already hold 20 of 28 House districts in Florida, which favored President Donald Trump by 13 percentage points in the 2024 election. A new map could target Democratic-held districts in south Florida and in the Orlando area.
DeSantis has for months advocated for more GOP-favoring lines in Florida, a move that would assist the shaky House Republican majority and his ex-rival Trump in the 2026 midterm elections.
