Drug Pricing Program Changes Sought by Senate Health Chairman

The Senate health chairman is seeking more guarantees that a government drug discount program is benefiting patients at the pharmacy counter, putting additional scrutiny on hospitals, clinics and pharmacies.

Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Chairman Bill Cassidy (R-La.) released a report Thursday laying out findings from his inquiry into the 340B Drug Pricing Program, which ensures manufacturers provide outpatient drugs at a reduced price to certain hospitals and health centers.
