Few incumbents will be on the ballot as 11 states choose governors in 2024.
So far only two — Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) and Spencer Cox (R-Utah) — are seeking another term. One other governor, Phil Scott (R-Vt.) has yet to say what he’ll do. All the others are either term-limited or retiring.
Three states to watch had ticket-splitting voters four years ago: North Carolina kept Democrat Roy Cooper in office while going for Donald Trump; Gov. Chris Sununu (R) won in New Hampshire and Scott won in Vermont while Joe Biden carried both states.
