Endangered Species Overhaul Vote Pulled After GOP Opposition (1)

The House has postponed a vote on a bill that environmentalists say goes too far in weakening endangered species protections after some Republican opposition.

The bill (H.R. 1897), sponsored by Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.), would modify the listing process for endangered and threatened species to expedite recovery times. It had originally been planned for a vote Wednesday afternoon but was postponed and may not come up again until next month, Westerman told Bloomberg Government.
