Energy Permitting Fast-Track Provision Teed Up in Budget Bill

House Republicans are moving ahead with a measure that would fast-track permitting for fossil fuel project applicants as part of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax-and-spending bill.

The language was included as part of a manager’s amendment released Wednesday night to House Republican’s version of the budget legislation, which Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) aims to bring to the chamber floor Thursday. The move is part of the party’s larger ambition to increase traditional energy sources and lessen the burden of regulation compliance on industry.
