The Environmental Protection Agency would see deep cuts in fiscal 2026 under a House Republican spending measure released Monday.
The EPA budget would see a 23% decrease from current enacted funding levels in the draft bill text from the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee. Even so, the EPA would avoid the steepest cuts recommended by the Trump administration — which has called for the agency’s overall budget to be slashed by 54%.
EPA would receive $7 billion in fiscal 2026 under the House bill, $2.1 billion less than the current enacted spending level.
