Democrats’ Push to Release Epstein Files Tabled by Senate (3)

Senate Republicans narrowly blocked Democrats from moving ahead on an effort to force the release of files relating to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, as momentum builds for the House to hold a vote.

The Senate voted 51-49 on Wednesday to table a motion from Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) that would have forced a procedural vote to direct the release of the files with an amendment to major defense legislation (S. 2296). Republican Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Josh Hawley (Mo.) voted with Democrats against tabling the motion.
