Farm Bill Passed by House Republicans With Democratic Support

House Republicans Thursday passed a massive farm bill despite opposition from most Democrats and some members of their own party, marking a significant step forward for legislation that has been mired in multi-year delays.

The 224-200 vote is the first to progress a farm bill package (H.R. 7567) out of a congressional chamber since 2018, the last time a farm bill was enacted. That farm bill technically expired in 2023, and lawmakers have opted for multiple one-year extensions of legislation that’s typically renewed every five years.
