Tensions Elevated in Oregon, Minnesota After ICE Shootings (1)

Oregon officials urged residents to be calm and called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to cease operations after a federal agent shot and wounded two people in southeast Portland on Thursday.

“Portland is not a training ground for militarized agents,” Mayor Keith Wilson said at a press conference on Thursday night. “Our community deserves answers, our community deserves accountability and most of all our community deserves peace.”

The Portland shooting occurred a day after an ICE officer shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, touching off angry protests across the country against President Donald Trump’s heightened immigration enforcement.
