Federal Buying Rule Update Teases New Contract Class Designation

Language mandating the use of “best-in-class” designated contracts was walked back as the Trump administration continues changes to Federal Acquisition Regulation.

Amendments to the August proposed revisions also direct the Office of Federal Procurement Policy to create a new class of “required use” contracts for procurement of common goods and services.

The FAR Council released a clarification to Part 8, along with revisions of three other parts, on Sept. 5 in its ongoing procurement regulatory re-write initiative.
