FEMA Head to Testify on Capitol Hill as Floods Prompt Scrutiny

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s top political official will testify before Congress next week as concerns mount about the Trump administration’s response to devastating floods in Texas earlier this month.

David Richardson, who has led FEMA since May, will appear July 23 at a hearing for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s emergency management panel. Subcommittee Chairman Scott Perry (R-Pa.) will focus on how FEMA “can become more agile and effective” in disaster response, according to an announcement Friday.
