Food Aid Measure in Latest GOP Tax Bill Clears Rules Hurdle (1)

Republican senators scored a win Thursday with the chamber’s independent rulekeeper clearing agriculture provisions they had revised to pass their sweeping tax and spending bill through a fast-track process.

Senators are racing to finalize the bill text this week to meet a self-imposed July 4 deadline to get the bill (H.R. 1) to President Donald Trump. The party wants to use the cost savings from its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program provision to help pay for tax cuts in the legislation.
