Foreign-Born Share of US Population Highest Since 1910: Census

Almost 14% of the US population was foreign-born in 2022, the highest share since 1910, according to Census Bureau data.

About 46.2 million people in America two years ago were born overseas, with half coming from Latin America. This was a marked increase from the 9.6 million foreign-born in 1970, which represented only 4.7% of the total population.

A recent Congressional Budget Office report estimates that an immigration surge started in 2022 and is now predicted to add 5.2 million people to the labor force by 2033. This will help bolster the US economy by about $7 trillion ...
