A provision to sell wireless spectrum frequencies in Republicans’ tax and spending bill could threaten commercial and military flight safety or cause cancellations, Democrats and former Federal Aviation Administration officials said Friday.
The sale of spectrum near frequencies used in aircraft radio altimeters would “pose an unnecessary risk to aviation safety,” former FAA administrator Michael Whitaker said in a written statement with Democrats on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
