Amtrak’s ‘Galling’ Six-Figure Executive Bonuses Spur Crackdown

Concerns over six-figure bonus payments to senior Amtrak executives have prompted Republican lawmakers to seek more transparency and improved cost oversight at the rail operator.

GOP lawmakers on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee earlier this week introduced bills seeking to compel the rail operator to disclose further information about executive pay, while Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), who introduced a similar measure, sent a letter demanding an in-person briefing and more information on Amtrak’s incentive pay program.
