Geothermal Permitting Overhaul Bill Passed by House Lawmakers

A proposal to help geothermal developers navigate the federal permit process passed the House Tuesday by voice vote.

The Geothermal Ombudsman for National Deployment and Optimal Reviews Act (H.R. 5631) would establish an independent official within the Bureau of Land Management, which is part of the Department of the Interior, to provide dispute resolution, monitor permitting, and develop best practices for getting geothermal energy projects up and running.
