Google Fights Meta-Backed App Store Restrictions in Statehouses

Alphabet Inc.‘s Google is lobbying state lawmakers to reject legislation that would require app stores to broadly share user age information with app developers—language backed by Meta Platforms Inc.—in favor of its own proposal to protect children online.

Google released a policy framework on Wednesday for states to regulate app stores such as those run by the company and rival Apple Inc.
