Republicans moved to impose steep fees on asylum seekers and other immigrants to fund President Donald Trump’s aggressive detention and deportation campaign.
The Judiciary Committee on Wednesday voted 23-17 along party lines to approve its $81 billion portion of a sweeping GOP-only tax and spending package in a markup that lasted last hours.
