GOP Revising Ballroom Funding Bill After Referee Scrutiny (1)

Senate Republicans will need to change their legislation funding the Secret Service and its work to secure President Donald Trump’s proposed ballroom after Democrats raised concerns the measure violated the chamber’s rules, according to two Senate aides.

Senate staff squared off Friday in a meeting with Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough over parts of a $72 billion GOP spending package.

Republicans are leveraging the budget reconciliation process to circumvent Democrats and replace lapsed annual funding at the Department of Homeland Security Committee with long-term mandatory spending.
