Leaders Set August as Possible Deadline

Some House Republicans want to pass another partisan fiscal package by their August recess after they wrap up funding for the Department of Homeland Security’s current fiscal year.

House Budget Committee Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) said lawmakers could pass the bill by August recess, laying out an incredibly ambitious timeline that would give Republicans less than two months to pass a package with provisions that could be politically risky.

That’s not to mention it’ll be an extraordinary heavy lift for GOP leaders to rally all their members behind the bill.
