GOP, Minnesota Officials Argue Over Social Program Fraud (1)

House Republicans pressured Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz before an oversight panel Wednesday over what they called widespread fraud in his state—and the governor fired back that the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown and move to cut Medicaid funding amounts to “political retribution.”

Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said that Walz and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison were to blame for “one of the most extensive breakdowns of oversight this committee has ever examined.”

But Walz argued that though fraud should be taken seriously, Minnesota is being targeted.
