House Republicans are proposing nearly $90 million in new security spending to protect federal officials— including lawmakers — following the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in stopgap funding legislation released today.
The measure also includes a fix for Washington, DC’s local budget to add language that lawmakers omitted in the full-year stopgap enacted earlier this year, which will allow the district to spend money collected from local tax revenues. The district was not able to spend its full budget for fiscal 2025.
