President Donald Trump has declined to endorse a candidate in the Senate GOP’s competitive Texas primary, despite efforts by top Republicans in the chamber to get him behind the incumbent.
“We’ve tried, and the president obviously is not, at this point at least, willing to make an endorsement there,” Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters Thursday. “Maybe at some point that changes, but as of right now, they’re going to, I think, duke it out in the primary. So we’ll see how it comes out.”
