GOP’s McCormick Doubts Permitting Overhaul Moves Before Midterms

Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) said he’s skeptical that Democratic leadership would allow a bipartisan overhaul of the federal environmental permitting process to pass before the midterm elections.

“This is so important to the American people, so important to national security,” McCormick, lead of the energy subpanel on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said during Politico’s Energy Summit in Washington Wednesday. He wondered whether Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) would “allow a bill that’ll be successful to be done before the midterms? It’s a genuine question in my mind.”
