The federal government would help prepare data for artificial intelligence developers to use in their models under new bipartisan legislation unveiled this week.
The bill, introduced by Sens. Ted Budd (R-N.C.) and Andy Kim (D-N.J.), members of the Commerce Committee, would direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology to establish guidelines for making government data ready for AI use. The Office of Science and Technology Policy would then have federal agencies implement those standards to aid in AI development.
