Heritage Action Bumps Up Lobby Budget as New Leader Takes Over

Heritage Action for America boosted its spending on federal lobbying this year, rebounding from a steep dip in 2025 during personnel turnover and high-profile turmoil at its foundation affiliate.

The lobbying arm of the conservative Heritage Foundation invested $250,000 in federal lobbying in the first quarter, new disclosures filed this week reveal, up from $20,000 the prior quarter. Heritage Action this month named Steve Chartan, a former chief of staff for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and a top aide to the House Freedom Caucus, as its new leader.
